John did live in Canada - probably born in Canada. Interestingly enough, a Barton Struthers Strong was born in Winnipeg on 14 Jun 1904 (See Manitoba Vital Statistics). Barton's mother was Mabel Victoria Ainley. Perhaps this John is actually Barton.
