Biography

Richard Stratford was the youngest son of John Stratford and Christian Howell. [1]

When his father died in 1552, Richard inherited the family estates at Hawling in Gloucestershire. [2]

At some time before 1560, Richard married Margery Combe, the daughter of William Combe of Cheltenham. [3]

Richard's will was written on 21 Dec 1573. [4]He made bequests to:

  • wife Margaret
  • son Henry
  • sons Richard, John and Anthony
  • daughter Eleanor
  • cousin George Stratford
  • John Stratford the younger of Farmcote
  • brother in law Edward Walwyn
  • cousin Anthony Stratford of Temple Guiting
  • cousin Edmund Broadway
  • cousin Rowland Baugh
  • cousin John Walwyn the younger of Winchcombe
  • cousin Thomas Adene.

His will was probated in March 1574 which means that he died either in late 1573 or in early 1574. [5]
