Persia was born in 1767. John Mann married Persia (Stratton) Mann on the 05 March 1797, in Pawlett, Rutland Co., Vermont. Persia was the wife of a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Living in an area invaded by the British it is hard for us to understand the trials she had to go through being a wife, mother, and woman during those turbulent times. War knows no boundaries and displaced many families in those turbulent times. John Mann moved his family moved around and in 1799 John resided in Hamilton, Ohio. He also resided in Franklin, Indiana around 1830. Among the people at John Mann's funeral were Orman Mann and Mary Vanblaricum. One of the first settlers in the area was John Vanblaricum who lived near the upper end of Big Narrows. It is unclear how Mary sharing the same name relates to John Vanblaricum. After John died Persia on the 20 May 1853 applied for a widow's pention. Mary and Ormon gave supporting affidavits that they were present at the funeral. She was denied. She again applied in 24 May 1855. She passed away in 1859.
