Biography

DeForest Stratton was born on 22 Nov 1854 in Ohio, United States.[1] (Census records indicate about 1855.[2][3][4]) He was the son of Thomas Stratton and Mary Manahan.[1]

In 1880, Deforest Stratton (25) was married to Ina Stratton (23). They were living in Townsend, Huron, Ohio with their son Ralph (1). He was a farmer.[2]

In 1900, Deforest Stratton (44) was married to Ina Stratton (44). They were living in Townsend, Ohio with their children Ralph W (21), Lloyd D (18) and Archie T (9). He was a farmer.[3]

In 1920, Deforest Stratton (65) and Ina Stratton (64) were living in Norwalk, Huron, Ohio. He was retired.[4]

Deforest Stratton died on 21 Apr 1943 in Knox, Ohio, United States. According to his death certificate, he was born 22 Nov 1854, his parents were Thomas Stratton and Mary Manahan, and his wife was Ina Jane Stratton (deceased).[1]

Deforest STRATTON married Ina Jane FILKINS. They had three sons: Ralph WARD STRATTON, Lloyd Benjamin STRATTON, and Archie Thayer STRATTON. Ralph STRATTON married Elsie Emily HULL; they had four daughters. Lloyd STRATTON married Isabel RESS and lived in Canton, OH. Archie STRATTON married Maude HARTLINE and lived in Akron, OH. Lloyd was proprietor of a candy business that connected with movie theaters. Archie was an auto mechanic and served in WWI. Ralph was an educator and then a textbook salesman for Macmillan Co. Elsie died in 1939 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Ralph married Esther Pauline Crecelius in 1941. Lloyd and Archie had no children. Ralph and Elsie's daughters were Ruth E. STRATTON (who m. James Shields); Lucile HULL STRATTON (who m. John SAVAGE HAWLEY; Elizabeth STRATTON (who m. Robert Charles HAWLEY [brother of John]; and Jean Margaret STRATTON (who m. Thomas M. Perkins). Both Elsie and Ralph were Oberlin College Alumni; Elsie was piano/organ and taught piano in their home at 222 W. Main St., Norwalk, OH. The first three girls were also Oberlin students. Jean was a Wooster College grad. I have more info, willing to share. Ralph was my grandfather. I have his STRATTON Family Bible, and Emily Hannah Ennes' Bible, as well (she married William GROVER; their daughter Sophia Luenna married Henry HULL, and they had three children: Grover Henry HULL; Elsie Emily HULL; and Luenna HULL).
