Biography

Zebulon Stratton was born on May 15, 1753 and christened on May 27, 1753 in Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts. His parents were James Stratton and Abigail Morton. [1]

Zebulon was a Private in the American Army during the Revolutionary War first serving in Capt. Ichabod Dexter's company of Minute men, Col. Ephraim Doolittle's regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] He collected a pension from March 4, 1831 until his death on August 18, 1842. [7]

On June 9, 1780, Zebulon married Jerusha Bradish, daughter of Robert Bradish and Lydia Morton, in Athol or Winchendon, Worcester, Massachusetts. [8]

Together they had these children, born between 1785 and 1790 in Massachusetts:

  2. James Stratton
  3. Meribah Stratton
  4. Zebulon Stratton
  5. Jerusha Stratton

Zebulon and Jerusha were residents of New Salem, Hampshire, Massachusetts in 1800 -1810. In 1800 there were three girls and 1 boy in their household. [9] [10]

By 1820, Zebulon and his family had moved to Concord, Niagara (later Erie County), New York. [11]

By 1830 and until his death in 1842, Zebulon was a resident of Little Valley, Cattaraugus, New York. [12] [13]

Zebulon died on August 18, 1842 and was buried in Annis Cemetery, Little Valley, Cattaraugus, New York. [14]
