Biography

Ebenezer Stratton was born in Rutland, Massachusetts, the son of Samuel and Mary (Eaton) Stratton.

In the Revolutionary War Ebenezer served from Rutland, Massachusetts, in Captain David Bent and Captain Josiah Wilder's companies under Major Daniel Clapp in Colonel Nathan Sparhawk's regiment as well as in other companies.

On January 11, 1776, Ebenezer married Tabitha Davis, the daughter of Josiah and Elizabeth (Raymond) Davis. The couple resided for a year in Princeton, Massachusetts, and then for five or six years in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. In about 1784 Ebenezer and Tabitha moved to Rindge, New Hampshire, where they resided for years. Ebenezer and Tabitha had the following children:

Ebenezer was selectman for seven years and was a leading Baptist in Rindge, contributing generously to the support of the church and preaching was sometimes had at his own house. He died on March 22, 1837, at 85 years of age, in Rindge. His body is buried in the Meeting House Cemetery in Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.
