Marriage Records from Richland Co., Ohio Courthouse, in Mansfield, Volume 3 page 87: “I do hereby certify that on the 28th day Of January 1836 by virtue of of a License from the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of Richland County William MAY and Sarah STROUPS were legally joined in marriage by me. Wm BETTS, Jus. of the Peace.”

In 1839 David DISINGER [Jr.] married Sarah STROUP/STRAUB MAY.

Marjory MCEWEN GEROLD in an Email about Mar. 9. 2003 related the following:

“I believe that David and his mother Maria Barbara HOLLENBAUGH FESLER BLOSSER came to Richland Co., Ohio because it was where David’s half sister, Rebecca (FESLER) BLOSSER was and shortly after bought land in Jackson Twp., Seneca Co., Ohio where they lived for many years. An old Jackson Twp. History mentions that David DISINGER went to Richland Co. To reclaim his horses that had wandered back to his old home and came back with a bride (who was Sarah STRAUB MAY). William MAY , Sarah’s oldest son, remained in Richland Co., Ohio which may have some connection as to why Maria DYSINGER and Thomas Clark MCEWEN were married there many years later.”

The children of David and Sarah (STRAUB) (MAY) DYSINGER are: 1. Henry born 1843 and died 1853. He is buried in the DISINGER Cemetery in Jackson Twp., Seneca Co., OH; 2. Samuel born 1844; 3. Maria born March 13, 1846 in Jackson Twp., Seneca Co., OH. She would marry Thomas Clark MCEWEN in 1866. 4. George born 1848; 5. Benjamin born 1850; 6. Amanda born 1852. 7. Reuben S. Born 1854 and died in 1939. He married Louise (1864 - 1938) and they are both buried in the DISINGER Cemetery; 8. David born 1857 and died before 1870. He is buried in the DISINGER Cemetery;

1850 Census for Jackson Twp. District 135, Seneca Co., OH, page 417. Image 13 of 24 has: David DYSINGER (Jr.) age 35 Farmer $1,200 born PA: [b. 1815]; Sarah (STROUP) DYSINGER age 32 F born PA: [b. 1818]; Henry DYSINGER age 9 M born OH; [b. 1841]; Samuel DYSINGER age 7 M born OH; [b. 1843]; Maria DYSINGER age 4 M born OH; [b. March 13, 1846]; George DYSINGER age 2 M born OH; [b. 1848]; Benjamin DYSINGER age 6/12 M born OH; [b. 1850]; George Alubaugh age 20 is a laborer on the farm. [Note: Since Henry was born in Ohio, the family must have moved from New York before 1841 which means the report in the Seneca Co., landowners above listing 1839 as the date of his arrival is probably correct rather than the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) date of 1843 for the purchase of his property listed below.] And living next door is David’s sister, Rebecca (FESLER) BLOSSER: Peter BLOSSER age 38 M farmer $800 born in New York [b.1812]; Rebecca (FESLER) BLOSSER age 32, born in New York [b. 1818]; Their children: Benjamin age 13 [b. 1837], David age 10 [b. 1840], Jacob, John, Henry and Mary; all born in Ohio. Also living with Peter and Rebecca is: Mumu (Maria?) R.? [HOLLENBACH][DISINGER] FASLER age 55 F $400 born in Pennsylvania [b. 1795] [Note: from the respective ages of David DYSINGER[Jr.] born in 1815 and Rebecca (FESLER) BLOSSER (born March 30, 1818) it appears that Maria Barbara (HOLLENBACH) (DYSINGER) married Benjamin FESLER between 1815, after David Jr. was born to Maria and her then husband David DYSINGER Sr. and before Rebecca FESLER was born to Maria and Benjamin FESSLER so the marriage probably occurred in 1816 – 1817. The location may have been either in Pennsylvania, where David Jr. was born, or New York where Rebecca was born. This information also provides an approximate date of death for David DYSINGER Sr. of 1815 – 1817, unless there was a divorce.]

1860 Census for Jackson Twp., Seneca Co., OH page 98 Image 2 of 33, pg. 190:

David DISINGER (Jr.) age 47 M Farmer $5,000 and $800 born PA [b. 1813]; Sarah (STRAUB) DISINGER age 42 F born PA [b. 1818]; Samuel DISINGER age 16 M born OH; [b. 1844] Maria DISINGER age 14 M born OH; [b. March 13, 1846] George DISINGER age 12 M born OH; [b. 1848] Benjamin DISINGER age 10 M born OH; [b. 1850] Amanda DISINGER age 8 F born OH; [b 1852] Reuben DISINGER age 5 M born OH; [b. 1855] [born Oct. 16, 1854]; David DISINGER (III) age 3 M born OH. [b. 1857] [Note that the oldest son, Henry, who would be age 19, is missing as he died in 1853 at age 10. All of the children except David are attending school.] And living next door is David’s step-sister(?) Rebecca (FESLER) BLOSSER: Peter BLOSSER age 46 M farmer $4,200 $800 born in New York [b. Oct. 17, 1812]; Rebecca (FESLER) BLOSSER age 44, born in New York [b. March 30, 1818]; Their children: David age 22 [b. 1838], Jacob, John, Henry, Mary, Maria B., Sarah, Madison and Andrew; all born in Ohio. [Note: Benjamin FESLER’s will mentions “my daughter Rebecca” and “Maria’s son David DISINGER Jr.” which implies that Rebecca was the daughter of Benjamin’s first wife so that would mean that there is no actual relationship between David and Rebecca other than growing up in the same household for some years. Since David BLOSSER was born in 1838, then Rebecca and Peter were married about 1837 and this would account for Rebecca living in Richland Co., Ohio in 1837 when Benjamin wrote his will. The Richland Co. records have been checked and there is no record of Rebecca FESLER and Peter BLOSSER having been married there. They may have been married in Seneca Co., Ohio though those records do not show a marriage between them. They did name their third daughter Maria B. possibly indicating that Maria Barbara was the mother of Rebecca.]
