It isn't known whether she was born in Pennsylvania or immigrated there with her parents. One source says that, during her early girlhood, she came with her parents to America (from Württemberg, Germany), the family locating in Pennsylvania. Another source states that she was born in Columbia County, Pennsylvania. On all four censuses in which she appears, her birth location is Pennsylvania.

Buried at Mowder Cemetery. Old Mason County death records give her date of death as 9 Jan 1887 and her age at death as 76 years, 2 mos, 5 days. This gives a date of birth as 4 Nov 1810. The 1879 History of Menard & Mason says she was born on 4 Dec 1810.

Her maiden name is also spelled Strawb, Stroup, and Strope.

They had ten children: Jacob T, John, Elizabeth, Martha, Charles, David, Mary, Harriet, and two others (died prior to 1879).

Research Notes

There are numerous Stroup families in Loyalsock Township, Northumberland, PA that had land warrants for 400 acres in 1794. Part of this area was later in Lycoming, Pennsylvania, where Judith and Joseph were supposedly married and lived for a number of years.
