Wife Catharine Straub, daughter of Charles Straub (d. 1820). Allegedly killed by lightning strike. Only male Strasser to remain in Pennsylvania.

According to the will of Charles STRAUB (written 4 May 1816 and proved 25 Nov 1820), wife Catherine, Children: Charles, Daniel (who had a son, Charles), Peter, George, Henry (whose wife was Barbara), Catherine (Mrs. Nicholas STRAWSER), Mary (Mrs. Andrew SATTERLY), Elizabeth (Mrs. Jacob STUMP), Barbara (Mrs. Jacob STEFFEN). He was of Mahantango Twp., then in Union Co., PA.

7b. Will of Charles Straub at Lewisburg, Pa. Will Book A, p. 143 (transcribed by Stephen Straub from a photocopy of the original): In the name of God, Amen. I Charles Straub, Sr., of Mahantango Township, Union County, Pennsylvania, yeoman, being very sick, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, calling into mind the mortality of my body, do make and ordain this as my las will and testament, in manner following, I recommend my soul into the hands of God, who gave it, and my body to the earth, to be buried in a descent manner at the discretion of my executors. And, as touching my worldly estate, wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise, and dispose of same in the following manner and form. First, I give and bequeath to Catherine, my beloved wife, all my real and personal estate in the township and county afiresaid. as long as she lives, also she shall have the power of doing with the said property and household furniture what she thinks proper, also, she shall have the power to demand payments of all debts due me. Will of Charles Straub, Sr. continued Or, She may give them into the hands of the executors, if she thinks propper to do so. My dear son, Daniel, shall have 100 Pounds (L) out of my real estate when it is sold, out of the first money received. The oldest son of Daniel, named Charles, after his grandfather, shall have 25 Pounds out of my real estate, and then the remainder of my money is to be divided into equal shares among my nine children, namely Charles, Peter, George, Henry, Daniel, Catherine (oldest daughter) married to Nicholas Strawser, Mary married to Andrew Shetterly, Elizabeth married to Jacob Stump, Barbara married to Jacob Stephy (Steffen). I constitute, make, and ordain my two sons Henry and Daniel, to be my executors of this will and testament. I do hereby utterly disallow all former testaments, wills, and legacies. The executors are to ratify and confirm this, and no other, as my last will and testament, In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of May, 1816.

11. Herbert C. Bell. 1891. History of Northumberland County... Brown, Runk & Co., Chicago (text online at the PAGenWeb Northumberland Co. web site [link died]). Paraphrased by DGM: Mahantango Twp. was formed in 1795 from Penn's Twp. In 1816, Mahantango Twp. ceded land to Perry Twp., then in 1818, to Washington Twp., at which point Mahantango ceased to exist. Perry and Washington Twps. were further subdivided to form West Perry, Chapman, and Union Twps. These five townships were among those ceded by Union Co. to form Snyder Co. in 1855. Therefore, individuals living in "Mahantango Twp., Northumberland Co." were actually living in what later became south-central and southeastern Snyder Co
