Eva Margaretha Strecker was born in 1829, the last of four children. Her mother's name is not known. Her parents probably married around 1818-1819 and her oldest sister Katharina Elisabeth was born in 1820. Katharina Margaretha followed two years later, and then Jakob Alexander was born three years after that. She was born four years after her brother.
Eva Margaretha's great grandfather Friedrich, the head of their household, died 10 years before she was born. It's not clear when her great grandmother passed away, but it was some time before 1834. She had two older sisters and one older brother. At some point between 1829 and 1834, her mother passed away, and her father died in 1830. By 1834, Eva Margaretha was living with her grandfather Johann Adam and her three siblings.
