The Visitation pedigree of Byron shown in this profile cites Alice (Strelley) Byron’s father as Sir Nicholas Strelley, of Strelley, Nottinghamshire.

There is no evidence of a middle name William for him. It would be very odd if there were such an indication as English people at this period rarely had more than one baptismal name and a surname.

What is the source of this person’s double name? Might it not derive from the conflation of two of more individuals into one profile at some point perhaps even before this material was added to WikiTree?

Thank you,

Upton

The PM is not pre 1500 certified so cannot edit this profile. I will have a look and edit as needed.

Unfortunately there are a lot of profiles like this and we do our best to revise but it’s a never ending job.
