Hastings Strickland was born at Oakham, Massachusetts, on 18 Aug 1768, the son of Rev. John Strickland and Patty (Stone) Strickland.[1] (The 1874 history of Livermore, Maine, says that he was born on 17 Aug 1768 at Nottingham, New Hampshire.[2])
Marriage
Hastings Strickland married Sally Perley at Gray, Maine (then in Massachusetts) on 16 Jun 1793.[3]
Residence
The 1874 history of Livermore, Maine, says that Hastings Strickland moved to Livermore in 1795, where he "had a large farm, with an extensive orchard and a cider mill, on the main road."[2] Hastings and Sally Strickland recorded their first child at Livermore on 10 Sep 1794.[4] There are many cases in the Livermore records of recorded births of children who were born before their parents moved to the town; whether this occurred in the Stricklands' case is not known.
Death
Hastings Strickland died at Livermore, Maine, on 9 Mar 1829.[2] He is buried with his wife and their son Hastings, who died in childhood, at the Brettuns Yard Cemetery in Livermore, where his gravestone gives his age at his death as 61.[5]
