Biography

Clemenza Strong was born on September 2, 1817 in Bolton, Tolland County, Connecticut. She was the 4th of 9 known children born to Noah Strong and Grace Foote .^{[1] [2]}

Clemenza married Nathaniel Keeney of Manchester on May 5, 1835, before her 18th birthday.^[3] They lived and died in Manchester, Connecticut, which is east of the Connecticut river, about 9 miles from Hartford, the capital of Connecticut. Manchester was part of East Hartford from 1783 until 1823 when it was incorporated as a separate town and was becoming an early center of textile manufacturing.

Clemenza and Nathaniel had three daughters born in Manchester, two of whom died young. She died in 1845 just after her 28th birthday.

Clemenza is buried in Manchester, Connecticut, in the East Cemetery. Her husband and two daughters who died young are also buried in this cemetery, as are her parents and at least one of her sisters (Catharine Grace (Strong) Hale. ^[4]
