Robert Strong was born in Surrey, England.

Robert was born in 1817. He was the son of Robert Strong and Margaret Fisher.

Mr Robert Strong, of England-street, Ponsonby, was yesterday presented by His Excellency the Governor with an old (Veteran's medal, and has been added to (the "Roll of Honour" shortly to be published by His Excellency. "Mr Strong, who is 84 years of age, was one of the 120 who formed the first volunteer corps in Auckland, the Coastguards, 48 years ago, he at that time being a member of (the Customs boat crew, and saw service in the early Maori troubles.

According to the St Catherine record they were married within the December quarter of 1844.

Notice in the Auckland Star. STRONG; On October 29 at the residence of his son-in-law (Mr Walter Smith) Beaconsfield St Grey Lynn. Robert Strong formerly of England St Ponsonby in his 91st year. The funeral will leave the above address tomorrow at 10.30am for Waiumete.

Notice in the Auckland Star 1st November 1909. The son and family of the late Mr R.Strong wish to thank all kind relatives and friends who sympathised with them in their sad bereavement, especially Mr & Mrs W.Smith and family. Mr Bassett, and Mr F.Scholfield for their unfailing kindness and for the spiritual comfort of the Rev.Archdeacon Calder, also for letters and floral emblems.

Auckland Star 29 October 1910 STRONG. In loving memory of Robert Strong, who died October 29. 1909. Peace, perfect peace. Gone but not forgotten. Inserted by his affectionate daughter and family.
