Biography

The son of John Strong and Minnie (Gage) Strong, Stephen was born in Osceola County, Michigan in 1891.[1][2] He served during World War I as a pharmacy technician, enlisting on March 12, 1915 and being discharged on April 8, 1917.[3] He married Fatima Florence Phillips (1890-1964) in Los Angeles on October 23, 1928,[4] and raised her two children, Bernice Dulcie and Spencer Blair.[5] Florence had been previously married to Bert Alvin Blair (1890-1973). The family made their home in Beverly Hills, California, where Stephen worked as the parts manager for an automobile dealership.[6] He passed away at the age of 63[7] and received a veteran's burial at Los Angeles National Cemetery.[8]
