Biography
Gayland Boyd Strong was born on November 2, 1907, in Martin, Arkansas, his father, Dwight, was 32 and his mother, Ann, was 27. He married Ruby Louise Porter on December 11, 1929. They had three children in 11 years. He died on September 20, 1969, in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 61, and was buried in Oakland Memorial Cemetery located in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas.
1910 Census: Boyd was 2 years old, living with his grandparents, Edward & Alma, and his parents, Dwight & Annie, in Martin, Pope County, Arkansas. There was a sibling and 4 servants living in the home.
1920 Census: Gayland was 12 years old, living with his step-father, George Ladd and mother, Annie, in Spadra, Johnson County, Arkansas. There was another sibling in the home. His grandparents, Edward & Alma, were living next door.
1930 Census: Gayland was 22 years old, living with his wife, Ruby, at 609 Main Street in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. He was an electrician at an electric plant.
1940 Census: Gayland was 31 years old, living with his wife, Ruby, at 516 Westlevin Street in Clarksville, Johnson County, Arkansas. He was an assistant manager for a lights / water company.
