Biography

Ann Strother of Virginia married Francis Tyler of Virginia on 5-17-1744. Anne (Ann) was the daughter of William Strother II and Margaret Watt. Neither the dates of birth and death on Francis & Ann Tyler.[1]

DNA results indicate that Ann's husband, Francis was the son of Francis Tyler and Rebecca Walker, and their son, Henry was the one that married Annice Carter, and Henry's son, William Tyler married Elizabeth Goolsby[2]

Francis Tyler received at patent for 400 acres of land in Culpepper County and in 1762 his wife Anne joined him in conveying it to Anthony Strother.

y-DNA testing has indicated Francis Tyler and Anne Strother of Virginia are unlikely to be the parents of William Ellis Tyler. Two male "descendants" of Francis Tyler have un-related haplotypes. The researcher who attached William Ellis Tyler to Francis Tyler possibly confused two different William Tyler men living simultaneously in Virginia and South Carolina.
