Jane Stroud was born in 1793, the daughter of Charlotte Stroud, convict, and George Ramsay, captain of her mother's convict ship "Kitty". She later became the adopted daughter of Sergeant George Loder, gaoler and pound-keeper at Windsor, New South Wales at the time that he married her mother, Charlotte Stroud (about 1794). Jane passed away in 1877.
Jane Stroud was born on 26 February 1793, and baptised on 20 April 1793, registered at St Philip's Church of England, Sydney, the register recording her parents' names as George Ramsay, and Charlotte Stroud.[1] She was probably born In a tent by the Tank Stream at Sydney Cove.
Jane subsequently took the surname of her mother Charlotte Stroud's husband, George Loder.
On 31 January 1810 at Parramatta, Jane Loder married The Reverend John Youl. The register of St Johns Church of England, Parramatta recorded: John Youl, of Hawkesbury and Jane Loder, of Hawkesbury were married on 31 January 1810 by Rev. Henry Fulton, by licence of His Excellency Governor Macquarie. Both Jane and John signed the register. Witnesses were Rowland Hassall and Elizabeth Arndell.[2]
They had six sons and three daughters. [3]
Jane Youl died on 19 July 1877 at Perth, in district of Longford, Tasmania, her age recorded as 84, widow, cause of death 'senility' [old age]. [4]

She was buried in Cypress Street Anglican Cemetery, Newstead, Launceston City, Tasmania.[6]
