After marriage Daniel and Elise Stroud lived in the Mt. Pisgah area for several years. In 1808 when John was 18 they purchased the Abe Brosius farm near Buttonwood, Jackson Township, Lycoming County... This purchase is of interest in that the co-owners were Elise Stroud and another son, W.C. Stroud. The likely reason Daniel did nopt have his name on the deed is because the farm he owned neat Mt. Pisgah was foreclosed for non-fulfillment of mortgage conditions. Apparently John Stroud became part owner of this property upon the death of Elise Stroud in 1878. On August 25, 1898 John and Ida Smith conveyed their half interest in the Buttonwood farm to William C. Stroud. Ref A-20
