William Stuart Sr is a member of Clan Stewart.

William Robertson Stuart was born on January 18, 1813, in Augusta County, Virginia.[1] He was the son of Charles Augustus Stuart and Elizabeth Robertson.[2]
At the age of 21, William married Lucy Ann Margaret Bradford on September 17, 1834, in Orange County, Virginia, when she was 17.[3][4] They had nine children - Charles Alexander, Joseph John, William Robertson Jr., Hannah Augusta (Gussie), Elizabeth Jane, Lucy Ann Margaret (died at age 5), Augustus Bradford, James Henry (Harry), and Thomas Floyd.
In 1850 and 1860, the couple were farmers and lived with children in Greenbrier County, Virginia. In 1860, William listed real property valued at $35,000 and personal property around $19,000.[5][6]
William's mother died in 1859. In her will, she divided her extensive property among her three children, and allocated the slaves among the children and various grandchildren. William and his brother John and brother-in-law William Reid were named as executors.[7]
Lucy died in July 1864. In 1870, William farmed and lived with several children, daughter-in-law, and grandson in Big Level, Greenbrier, West Virginia.[8] In 1880, he was boarding with a couple that lived next door to his son William and family in Lewisburg, Greenbrier, West Virginia.[9]
William died on May 7, 1900, at the home of his daughter Hannah Bowen in Tazewell, Tazewell, Virginia, when he was 87.[10][11]
