Arthur Patrick Avondale Stuart (8th Earl of Castle Stewart) was born on 18 August 1928. He is the son of Arthur Stuart (7th Earl Castle Stewart) and his wife Eleanor May Guggenheim.
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1949 in the service of the Scots Guards.
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree.
He succeeded to his lands & titles on 5 November 1961. He was a farmer. He was invested as a Fellow, Institute of Management (F.I.Mgt.) in 1978. He lived at Manor Farm, Babcary, Somerton, Somerset, England. In 2003 he lived at Stuart Hall, Stewartstown, County Tyrone, Ireland.
Marriage
He married, firstly, Edna Fowler, daughter of William Edward Fowler, on 20 December 1952. He married, secondly, Gillian Savill on 10 November 2004 at City Hall, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland.
