Francis Douglas Stuart (18th Earl of Moray) was born on 10 July 1892. He was the son of Morton Gray Stuart (17th Earl of Moray) and Edith Douglas Palmer.
He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Scottish Horse. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Air Force. He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.).
He succeeded to his lands & titles (inc the title of 18th Earl of Moray) on 19 April 1930. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Morayshire between 1935 and 1943.1
He died on 9 July 1943 at age 50.1
He married Barbara Murray, daughter of John Archibald Murray, on 21 June 1924.
