Biography

James Agrippa Stuart was born in Lancashire in 1857, his birth being registered in Manchester in the fourth quarter of that year [1]

James was baptised on 27 July 1862, at Miles Platting church, the son of William Stuart and Thirza Greenhough [2]

By 1881 James had married and was living at 38, Bolton Street, Layton with Warbreck, Fylde. He was shown on the census as age 28, a glass and china dealer, born in Manchester. His wife Lena was age 25, and they had a 1 year old son called Henry. Also in the household was 19 year old, Annie Burtles, a milliner, born Manchester. Although classed as a boarder, James and Annie were actually step brother and sister, as Annie's father Thomas was married to James' mother Thirza. [3]
