John Alexander Stuart of Carnock was born on 4 November 1787. [1] in Edenbridge, Midlothian, Scotland.

John Alexander Stuart was the son of Dr Charles Stuart MD of Dunearn and his wife Mary Erskine.

He passed away on 3 November 1869, aged 81 in Midlothian, Scotland [1] and was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

John Alexander Stuart was married to Margaret Murray, daughter of Thomas Murray. [1] on 13 May 1824.
