John Barr Stuart was born in 1811 in Sugar Grove, Warren County, Pennsylvania, United States. He was the son of John Hood Stuart (1780–1862) and his wife Jennet (Janet) Barr (1776–1838).

He passed away on 20 January 1856 in Callinsburg, Pennsylvania, United States.

Marriage

John Barr Stuart was married to his 1st wife Hannah Gates (1814–1837) in 1834.

He was widowed in 1837.

He was then married to his 2nd wife Phoebe Ann Weed (1814–1896) in 1840.
