Maria Elizabeth Stuart was born on 13 March 1847 in Winburg, Orange Free State, South Africa. She was the daughter of Robert Thomas Stuart (1815 - ?) and his wife Maria Elizabeth (1826 – ?).

She died on 16 September 1900 in Lichtenburg, Transvaal, South Africa.
