The was the eldest of a family of fourteen children, thirteen boys and one girl. His father, Henry D. Stuck, moved to Otsego in the spring of 1855, when Chester was nine years of age, and in the fall they moved upon the Stuck homestead now owned by Geo. D. Stuck. In 1871 he was united in marriage with Miss Eva Gilbert of this township and six children - two of whom died in infancy—blessed their union. Nearly all of Mr. Stuck's life was passed in this vicinity, and the greater part of his work was in this locality. He was honored by his friends, who elected him as highway commissioner for several terms, also as township treasurer for two full terms. Mr. Stuck was prominent in politics, always taking a deep interest in conventions and caucuses. He was a man of firm convictions and was ever ready to stand by them, and was a fighter for what he believed to be right. He was loyal to his friends and will be greatly missed in Otsego where his life has been spent. Mr. Stuck was a carpenter by trade, and was a first-class workman. Work entrusted to him was always done right. In August of this year he suffered an attack of neuralgia, and in spite of all that medicine and nursing could do passed from this life at 2 p. m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at the age of 65 years, 4 months and 28 days. The wife and mother, two sons, Volney of Jonesville, and Leon of this place, two daughters, Ethel of Kalamazoo and Mrs. Electa Hewitt, Pittsburg are left to mourn a devoted husband and father.
