Biography

Anna was likely born on 10 Oct 1832 in Darmstadt-Dieberger, Landkreis, Hesse, Germany. She passed away 20 Sep 1900 in Harrisburg, PA, where all of her nine children were born and where she was widowed when her husband Johann/John Fuchs/Fox, also from Germany, was run over by a railroad train in the yard where he worked. Sources

  1. First-hand information as remembered by David Olson, Sunday, January 11, 2015. Name "Christine Stuck" passed down from written records of Edith Ketcham Olson (a granddaughter). There are no other references to the name Christine. Also see 1860 census of Harrisburg, PA and genealogy of Fox descendants who are David Olson's cousins (proven by DNA). For David Olson, second great-grandson, this is one of the few dead ends on his tree and he would greatly appreciate any info on Anna and Johann. A recent (2022) DNA match has suggested a sibling, John. Replace this citation if there is another source.

DNA link between descendants of John Stock and Anna Stock.

See also: 1860 Census refers to this woman as "Anna Fox" and a Nebraska marriage license of son Frederick Louis Fox states father as "Adam Fox" and mother as "Anna Stoke." So there is some confusion about the names. There is a proven genetic link between three ancestors of Frederick Louis Fox and one ancestor of Amelia Fox.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Anna by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Anna:

A lot of uncertainty and controversy here. My grandmother's written records indicate that her maternal grandparents were Christine Stuck and Johann Adam Fuchs, parents of Amelia Fox. However, I am genetically linked to three Fox cousins who indicate that their ancestors were Johann Adam Fuchs and Anna Stoke. Now, Stoke is an English name, not a German name, and both members of this couple were known to come from Germany. So it is quite possible that Stuck was corrupted to Stoke in the ONE PLACE it appears in writing, on a Nebraska marriage license. There is still the difference in first names, though. Another complicating factor is that Johann Adam Fuchs is an extremely common name in Germany.

Any information others could provide would be appreciated.
