Biography

Samuel Stumbles was born in Plymouth, Devon on 20 August 1816. He was the son of William Stumbles & Catherine Withecombe.[1][2]

Samuel Stumbles married Mary Daley in St James' Church of England, Sydney, New South Wales on 6 June 1842.[3][4] They had the following children:

  1. Samuel Stumbles, born 26 January 1845 in New South Wales[5][6]
  2. Mercy Stumbles, born 12 February 1847 in New South Wales[7][8]
  3. Mary Stumbles, born 21 October 1850 in New South Wales[9][10]

His wife Mary died in New South Wales during 1850, aged 29.[11]

Samuel Stumbles married Anne Byrnes in St James' Church of England, Sydney, New South Wales during 1851.[12] They had the following children:

  1. Annie Matilda Stumbles, born 2 February 1852[13][14]
  2. Dorcas Stumbles, born 1857 in Wollongong[15]
  3. Amelia Stumbles, born 1861 in Wollongong[16]

Samuel died of paralysis at his residence of Harbour Street, Wollongong on 20 July 1889, aged 78.[17][18][19][20]
