In April 1939, Richard Dick STUMBO filed for Social Security stating he was born in McDowell, Kentucky on 10 May 1862 to Greenville STUMBO and Kate SIZEMORE.[4] This date of birth conflicts his census age in 1870 and in other census records.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Stumbo-1054 and Stumbo-710 appear to represent the same person because: Merge needs to be completed and the profiles need to be rewritten to show proper sources for any conflicts in the submitted data. The 1860 birth date is way too early based on his parents marriage in 1865. Likewise the 1870 census record only lists him as being 3 years old.
Stumbo-1069 and Stumbo-710 appear to represent the same person because: Although the application for social security states his birth was on 10 May 1862, his parents were not married until 9 April 1865 and the age reported in 1870 was only 3 years old. There are 3 children listed with the same name with the same parents and they should be merged. The differences in the dates of birth need to be explained and sources given to point to a more likely conclusion for any discrepancies in the biography or research progress sections. Wikitree policy is for there to be one profile per individual so these should be merged into one profile to avoid confusion.
