Mary (Stump) Ferree was a Pennsylvanian.

Mary Ann, eldest daughter of Jesse Stump and Isabella Hildebrand, was born 3 November 1889 in York Township, York County, Pennsylvania.^[1] She grew up in a farming family in York Township, where the household in 1900 included her parents Jessie (age 31, farmer) and Isabella (34, mother of four, all living), Mary Ann (11), and her siblings Estella May (8), Henry Arthur "Harry" (6) and Viola Ester (4).^[1]

On 21 September 1907 in Spry, York Township, she married John Peter Ferree,^[2] son of Samuel Spencer Ferree and Elenora Reever.^[3] They had two daughters:

• Violet Ruth (Ferree) Dellinger (b. 5 March 1908;^[4][5][6] m. Chester Elwood Dellinger;^[5][6] d. September 2000).^[4][5][6] Four daughters, including:

1. Nena Maureen (Dellinger) McGill (1931–2004).^[7][6]
2. Beverly Jean (Dellinger) Barranco (1936–2008).^[8][9][6]
3. Tolly J. (Dellinger) Leaman (1939–2000).^{[10][11][12][13][6]}

• Fairy Isabel (Ferree) Woltman (b. 14 October 1912;^[14] m. Donald Thomas Woltman;^[15] d. 17 January 1979).^[14] At least one son and one daughter.

The couple settled in York Township, York County, where they raised their family. By 1910, the household was comprised of John P. Ferree (age 21, house painter), Mary A. (20, cigar maker, mother of one) and their daughter Violet R. (2).^[16] The household grew by 1920 to include John P. (age 30, house painter), Mary A. (29, cigar maker), Violet Ruth (11) and Fairy Isabel (7).^[17] Donald Thomas Woltman (18, laborer in father-in-law's plumber's shop) was added to the household in 1930, when it consisted of John P. (age 42, plumber) and Mary A. Ferree (41, cigar maker), and their daughters Violet R. Ferree (22, music teacher) and the newly-wed Fairy I. Woltman (17, tobacco stripper, cigar factory)^[15]

By 1940 their daughters had established their own homes, leaving John P. (age 51, owner of a plumbing and heating company) and Mary A. Ferree (50) alone together in York Township.^[18]

Mary Ann died 26 March 1971, and was buried at Otterbein Cemetery in Spry, York County, Pennsylvania.^[19]
