Walter Stump has German Roots.
Walter Stump was a Pennsylvanian.

Walter, son of Wesley Thoman Stump and Mary Messersmith,[1] was born 14 August 1899 in Glen Rock, York County, Pennsylvania.[1][2][3][4]

One-year-old Walter was coddled by his family in 1900 on the farm they rented farm in Codorus Township, York County.[2] In addition to his parents Wesley (age 43, tenant farmer) and Mary Stump (41, mother of nine, eight living), the household encompassed his siblings Paul (18, farmhand), Edward (14, farmhand), Ellen (11, servant), Ralph (9, at school) and Robert (2).[2]

By 1910, his parents Wesley (age 53, general farmer) and Mary Stomp [sic] (52, mother of nine, eight living) owned the farm in Codorus Township, where Walter (11) and his brother Robert A. (13, laborer on home farm) also lived.[5]

Walter enlisted for military service in Columbus, Ohio, on 31 January 1918 at age 18 years, five months.[6]

He served overseas from 28 September 1918 to 15 July 1919[6] and was honorably discharged on 23 July 1919.[6] [7] [6]

About 1921, he married Florence Alverta Winter,[9] daughter of Bird Bose Winter and Victoria A. Fisher.[10]
