Biography

Michael Stump IV, son of Michael III and Mary Magdalene Richards Stump, was born May 4 1787 in now Hardy County, (West) Virginia and died March 17 1883 and was living with Mandeville B Stump, his grandson, in Gilmer County, Center District, West Virginia.[1] He married (1) Elizabeth Bush, sister of Jacob Bush[2] who made a marriage bond with Michael January 30 1810. [3] (2) Mary Rice, daughter of Henry and Alsa Bush, September 27 1867 in Calhoun County, WV. [4] [5] [6] On April 8 1817 he was commissioned as a Justice of the Peace in Lewis County, (West) Virginia. [7]After the formation of Gilmer County, (West) Virginia in 1845 he was appointed as a member of the first Gilmer county court and county surveyor. [8] [9]
