Franklin was born about 1859. Franklin is the child of John Stump and Sarah Stine. [1]
Frank was taller than average, lean and ramrod straight, clean shaven, and looked the part of a gentleman farmer. He wore blue and white striped bib overalls and matching jacket, railroad cap, and rimless glasses. He had a Model T Ford truck. It had a black wooden cab and a green grain box. Frank lived on the old home place and it had been improved since 1867 with a big red barn, smaller sheds for machinery and animals. He regularly published his opinion on government meddling in Agriculture. It was a toss up as to who had the most interesting story in Macomb Journal, Frank or Ike. He was a progressive farmer, the first to put lime on his fields, as well as manure, and grew alfalfa before farmers did. Was a member of the McDonough County Farm Bureau.[2]
In March, 1889, he was elected as collector of the Bethel township republicans.[3] He was elected secretary of the Bethel Township farmers institutute in November, 1889.[4]
In April, 1890, he was elected as Town Clerk for Bethel Township.[5]
He married Elizabeth Hesh on April 7, 1892, in McDonough County, Illinois.[6]
In November 1900 to April, 1901, Frank and Lizzie moved to Aledo, Illinois. In Spring of 1902, they moved in with Frank's father on the Bethel Township farm.[7]
In 1914, he served as Vice President of the Farmer's Institute, representing Bethel Township.[8]
Frank had no children.
