Walter "Sam" M. Stump Jr., 65, of Spring Garden Township, died at 10:50 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he lived five years. He was the husband of Arlene M. (Smith) Eber-Stump.
Mr. Stump was born in York. He was the son of the late Walter M. and Meda (Falkenstein) Stump.
He was retired after 30 years as a machinist at Caterpillar Inc. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of West York VFW Post 8951 and Prince Athletic Association.
Mr. Stump also is survived by six daughters, Susan Stump of York, Linda Clay of Cleveland, Mary Russo, Nancy Strategos, Beth Holt and Sandra Bullock, all of York; three sons, William Stump of York, Joseph Stump of Harrisburg, and Richard Eber of Essex, Md.; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Mary Glatfelter of Glen Rock, and Marguerite Lauer of York; and a brother, Donald Stump of Windsor.
