Research Notes
The Surname Sturgeon seems to be of Norman origin which probably means the family started in Great Britain and immigrated to Northern Ireland somewhere in the 17th Century. [9] It follows then that they are Anglicans, not Lutheran which makes their heritage British. Sturgeons were Norman possibly Vikings who landed on the Orkny Islands and then went down to Flanders?.
