Biography

Christian Sturm was born near Klein Schifferstadt, Rheinland, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. He may have been born in 1662 [1]or 1671[2]

He married his first wife, Magdalena, before September 1693., probably in a Roman Catholic ceremony Their child John Jacob was baptized in the Catholic Church of Saint Jacob in Schifferstadt in June, 1694.[3]

He apparently converted to Lutheranism and married his second wife in 1695 in Iggelheim,[4] [5]

He died 9 Aug 1734. [6]

Notes

The children from his second marriage were baptized in the Evangelisch [Protestant] church in Iggelheim, Pfalz, about 5 miles outside of Schifferstadt. Or that church is holding the records.

The Find A Grave memorial is rather muddled. It says the burial is in Thuringen, Germany, more than 200 miles away. It *also* says the grave site is Saint Jacob's Catholic Church, in Schifferstadt. While Christian's child with his first wife was baptized there, I very much doubt that he would be buried there after he had converted. I would expect to find a gravesite in Iggelheim or other nearby Protestant church.

From an interesting note on FamilySearch -- Sources: LDS records from German churches of Iggelheim-Klein, Schifferstadt and Gross Schifferstadt. The Sturm/Storm line is established here about 1695 with Johann Peter Sturm (died 1709, buried 10-12-1709), Johann Jacob's Grandfather. The religious foundation at Klein Schifferstadt was Reformed or Calvinist. There doesn't appear to be a cemetery on record to chapel; burials were in the village of Gross Schifferstadt. this data from N.K. Littell
