Governor of Hereford Castle
An Inquisition regarding the lands and tenements of Bartholomew de Sutley, taken at Sutley on the Saturday next before the feast of St Kenelm, 8 Edward I [1280], by William de Sutley, among others, who said that, Bartholomew held of the King in chief in co Gloucester, the manor of Suhtley, and other manors and lands in divers counties of the King. The said manor of Sutley was worth £5 clear per annum, and Sir John de Sutley, aged 22 years and more, was Bartholomew's son and next heir.[1]
Sudeley Castle was originally in Sudeley Manor Parish of Gloucestershire County in the Kiftsgate Hundred. It is located next to the town of Winchcombe. The parish name was shortened to Sudeley in modern times.
