William was born about 1706/7. He is probably the son of John Suffolk and Elizabeth who was christened on 26 Jan 1706/7 in Chilvers Coton, Warwickshire, England.[1]
By 1730, William was a master cordwainer. He took on John Suffolk, son of John, as an apprentice cordwainer for a premium of £4.[2]
In 1741, he took on another apprentice, Thomas Randle, son of Thomas; this time for £5.[3]
William Suffolk married Eliz. Mountfort on 8 Jun 1731 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England.[4]
His will was proved in the Lichfield Consistory Court on 8 April 1774.[6]
Key details:
Described as "William Suffolk of Nuneaton in the County of Warwick Cordwainer"
Wife Elizabeth (sole executrix)
Made 28 February 1771
William signed his own name (rather than just making his mark)
Probate was granted to Elizabeth Suffolk, widow, on 8 April 1774 at Coventry

His widow, Elizabeth, died two years later, at which time five of their children were still living, being mentioned in her will.[7]
Research Notes
Possible Baptism
There are no likely baptisms in the parish of Nuneaton. While there is a William Suffolk baptised 15 November 1715 at Nuneaton, this person would be too young to be a master cordwainer by 1730. Also quite young to be married in 1731.
Extending the search to adjoining parishes, there is a William Suffolk baptised on 26 January 1706/7 in Chilvers Coton, Warwickshire.[8] His parents were John and Elizabeth, although based on dates they cannot be John Suffolk and Elizabeth Broadneck who married in Nuneaton on 15 August 1707. It seems there were two couples with the same names having children at the same time. One couple in Nuneaton and one in Chilvers Coton.
With regard to the above information, he is probably not the Will. Suffolk, son of John Suffolk and Elizabeth Broadneck, christened on 15 Nov 1715 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England.[9]Elizabeth (Broadneck) Suffolk (bef.1673-) has been removed as mother and her husband John Suffolk (bef.1685-) has been removed as father. The christening has been adjusted with the new information.Hardman-1532 14:10, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Correct Burial and Will
The correct burial is the one on 19 December 1773 and the correct will is that of William Suffolk, cordwainer, proved 8 April 1774. The reasoning is:
1) The will for Elizabeth Suffolk, widow, proved 4 September 1776, lists 5 children. These children correspond to the baptism records for the children of William Suffolk and Elizabeth Mumford/Montfort who married in 1731.
2) Elizabeth's will was proved before the wills of the other William Suffolks (11 October 1776 and 4 October 1782). So she must be the widow of the first William Suffolk, will proved 8 April 1774.
3) Noting that the three burials for William Suffolk in Nuneaton noted above are the only reasonable possibilities in that parish.
Possible siblings
Children christened to a John Suffolk and Elizabeth in Chilvers Coton, Warwickshire between 1695-1730
Given the possible siblings, the marriage between John Suffolk and Elizabeth probably took place shortly before 1706 since no children were christened to them between 1695-1706. Searched FS for such a marriage without success.Hardman-1532 14:31, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
