Biography

Her grave marker gives her D.O.B. as 24 Jan 1868, but her death certificate says that it was 30 Jan 1867. Her grave is in Row 7 at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Moncure, Chatham County, North Carolina, USA.

She died from gastrointestinal hemorrhage. She had also suffered during her last 10 years from bronchial asthma.

It is uncertain whether her maiden name was "Sugg" or "Suggs". Census and other records for her father show it spelled both ways.
