Julia Sullivan was born in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada around 1835. Her age was given as 17 when she married James Mcloughlin on September 6th 1852 in Saint Mary & St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Chapel on Wade Street, Poplar, Middlesex. [1] In the 1871 census, her age is 34[2], and in the 1881 census her age is 44 [3]. Both of the census ages would give a birth year of 1837, which would mean she was only 15 when she married. The family returned to England, from Canada, sometime in the middle of 1843, Thomas, Julia’s brother was born in Poplar in September 1843.[4]
Julia died on November 29 1897 in the Poplar and Stepney Sick Asylum in Devon’s Road, Bow, London.[5]
