Douglas was born in Derby Derbyshire in 1897. He is the son of Lawrence Sullivan and Harriet Elizabeth (maiden name yet to be researched).
Douglas served in the 9th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, enlisting in Nottingham on August 1914.
On 28 October 1916 in Aldershot Hampshire, Douglas married Elizabeth Ellen Trusler. No children would come from the marriage.
Douglas was killed in action during World War I in France and Flanders on 26 September 1917 at age 20. He was awarded the Military Medal.
