The family is living in Scott County, Mississippi by 1837 when Owen appears on the tax list for that county.[3] He also appears on the tax list in 1841 in Scott County for one poll tax.[4] And in October of 1842 Owen served as a Scott County Grand Juror.[5] The family appears in the census there in 1850[1] but has moved to Many, Sabine Parish, Louisiana by 1860.[2] Owen died sometime before the 1860 census as Clarissa is widowed on the census with their children and living with the Johnson family.[2] Whether Owen died in Mississippi resulting in the family's move to Louisiana or died after they had migrated there is unknown at this time.
