Mrs. Georgina Frances Sullivan Jones, the daughter of Eugene Lemuel Sullivan (1820 - 1885) and Elizabeth Anne Yount Sullivan (1826 - 1855) was born July 6th, 1853 San Francisco, San Francisco County California, USA .She was the granddaughter of George Yount, founding father of Napa Valley and namesake of Yountville, California. ^[1]

Her mother died when she was just one year old. She is living with her father at age 15, in California. They used "Georgiana" as a spelling on that record. ^[2]

Marriage

Born in San Francisco, she was educated in Europe. She was married Senator John Percival Jones who was born in Hertfordshire, England, in 1873.

As the Republican Senator from Nevada, he served in the US Senate from 1873-1903. He also was the founder Santa Monica, California.

During the thirty years he served in the Senate, she was one of the social leaders in Washington. The French Government decorated her for her work in connection with the erection of the statue of George Washington by Daniel Chester French at Paris in 1900 and again for assisting with the Orpelinant des Armees in the World War.

Surviving are her stepson, Roy Jones of Los Angeles and three daughters, Mrs. Alice MacMonnies, wife of Frederick MacMonnies, the sculptor, and Mrs. Marion Farquhar and Mrs. Georgina Walton (Sister Daya). The funeral service will be held at Grace Church Chantry, Broadway and Tenth Street, tomorrow at 11 A.M. Honorary pall-bearers will be Thomas W. Lamont, Frederick MacMonnies, Wesley C. Mitchell, Lee Pattison, Herbert Langmuir, and Frederic Patton Hart. ^[3]
