Bertha J. Sulsbaugh died in Millersburg on 4 June 1870, age 1 year, 3 months, and 16 days old. She is buried in St. Davids Reformed Church Cemetery, Killinger, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Her gravestone is marked with the name Bertha J. Sulsbaugh, her death date, and her age at death.[2]
She is enumerated in the 1870 U.S. Census as Bertha J. Sultzbach, age 1, residing in the Millersburg, Pennsylvania, household of Jacob Sultzbach and Rebecca E. Sultzbach, both age 31. Bertha was the only child in the household. She had died before the enumerator visited in August 1870, but the census was supposed to record everyone who had been living in each household as of 1 June 1870. [3]
