Henrich (Henry) Sultzbach was born 4 March 1774 at Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania. [1][2] His father was Philip Sultzbach.[2]
His wife was named Elizabeth.[3][2] Lineages submitted to the Daughters of the American Revolution by his descendants identify her as Elizabeth Bower, 1768-1849.[4]
He was a farmer[2] and he established and operated a tannery[5] in Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania, on land immediately south of the Horn Farm property, which in 1981 became the property of York County and as of 2016 was the Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education.[6] In 1800 the Pennsylvania Septennial Census recorded "Henry Sultzbach, Tanner" among the 136 male heads of families living in Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania.[7]

He was head of a household consisting of one male age 26-44, one male and one female age 16-25, one male age 10-15, and two males and one female under 10. John Sultzbach, also age 26-44, is listed three lines below.[8] The 1810 U.S. Census recorded Henry Sultzbach in Hellam, York County, Pennsylvania, head of a household consisting of one male and one female age 26-44, two males and two females 16-25, two males 10-15, and three males and two females under 10. The 1840 U.S. Census recorded Henry Sultzbaugh in Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania, head of a household consisting of one male age 60-69 (Henry), one female age 70-79, one female age 20-29, one male age 15-19, and one male age 10-14. Frederick Sultzbaugh is listed on the next line, heading a household of three males and two females age 20-29, one male 15-19, and two girls and a boy under 10.[10]
The 1850 U.S. Census recorded 76-year-old Henry Sultzbaugh in Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania, with Barbara Mummert, age 40, and Frederich Sultzbaugh, age 24, all born in Pennsylvania. Henry and Frederich were both recorded with Occupation "None"; Henry had $6000 of real estate.[11]
Henry Sultzbach died in Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania, on 18 October 1853 at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 14 days. He is buried in Kreutz Creek Cemetery in Hellam Township.[1][2] The registration of his death was returned by Henry Sultzbach of Marietta, Pennsylvania.[2]
