Frederick was born on 29 October 1912 at Lilydale, Tasmania, according to his enlistment papers. [1]
Darby enlisted at Lilydale on 26 January 1940, after previously being a sawmiller. He was married to Eileen with one child. [2]He had brown hair and grey eyes, and was attached to the 59 Anti- Aircraft Coy. R.A.E.. [3] He was discharged on 17 September 1943 as medically unfit due to osteoporosis arthritis in the knee. [4]
Darby was married to Eileen Louisa Neenan.

According to the Supreme Court of Tasmania: "Be it Known that FREDERICK WILLIAM SULZBERGER of Lilydale in Tasmania Retired Farmer/Married did die on 29 April 1984 at Launceston in Tasmania"[13]
His remains are interred at Lilydale Cemetery, Lalla Road, Lilydale at location C7.[14]

Administration of the will of "FREDERICK WILLIAM SULZBERGER of Lilydale in Tasmania Retired Farmer/Married" was granted by the Supreme Court of Tasmania to son Raymond Frederick Sulzberger and daughter Gwendoline Dean.[16]
