Biography

Sarah Ann was born in 1806, the daughter of Thomas and Ann Hooper Summers. She married first, Patrick "Henry" Morris and they had children: Floyd, Harriet, Henry, Madison, Thomas, William, Ferdinandand Nancy (Poindexter). Henry passed away in 1840 and she married second, Richard Chandler. Three of her sons: Henry Madison and Thomas Morris, went to Little Rock, Arkansas, when young. She eventually moved there also where she passed away in 1895. The inscription on her gravestone in the Gum Springs Cemetery reads: Mother of M.M.,T.J.& C.L. Morris.

Research Note

Note says "left 12 children," but doesn't say who they were or whether Richard or Henry fathered them. Eight children named Morris are listed in this Profile. [After this note was added a ninth child - George L. - was added. A sketch of George appeared in a survey of representative citizens of Eastern Arkansas, 1890. Given that at least one more was added, there may be others yet to be. - gsm]
