  • Charles Summers Sr. was born on 1 February 1787, in Charles, Maryland, United States as the son of Thomas Summers Jr. and Mary Ann Brawner. He married Elizabeth Sarah Tewell on 5 October 1805, in Washington, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Barr Township, Daviess, Indiana, United States for about 10 years. He died on 13 June 1862, in Mount Pleasant, Perry Township, Martin, Indiana, United States, at the age of 75, and was buried in Saint Rose Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Perry Township, Martin, Indiana, United States.

Son of Thomas Summers and Mary Ann Brawney.

Married#1 Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Tewell 5 October 1805. [1] Had 12 children.

Research Notes

WARNING: the date of birth and death for each of the two wives credited to Charles needs more research.

The find a grave ref gives the date of death for one "Elizabeth Summers" died 7 Oct 1860, "Aged about 85 Yrs" which would give an estimated b.d. of 1775, giving her a b/d of 1775-1860.

The dates given in the WT profile suggest that the 1st wife "Sallie" (Tewell) Summers lived and died 1790-1843.

For the 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Payne) Summers, the dates on the familysearch site are 1790-1860 ALSO. According to the 1850 the 2nd wife was born 1795; in the 1860 Census she was born 1790.

There are two marriage records, 1st one to Elizabeth Sarah Tewell and the 2nd to Elizabeth Payne.
