Emily Summers is a part of US Black heritage.

Emily Summers was born enslaved in 1817. She is listed on the ship manifest of the UNCAS that sailed from Alexandria, District of Columbia to New Orleans, LA arriving 5 Feb 1835. She was 18 years old. Emily is listed on the manifest as owned by slave traders John Armfield and Isaac Franklin.

Research Note

No information has surfaced as to whom she was sold or if she remained enslaved to either Franklin or Armfield. She might have been enslaved by a slave holder named Summers prior to being traded.
